Things of  General Interest in The Mercy Seat

Consumerism saves the main characters life

The Female lead is a strong character but is easily bothered or offended by remarks that underscore her "deviant" gender related behavior

The image of Cheese might be symbolic (the Rat Race)

The Male lead is a beautifully post-modern Masculine stereotype , empty lost, boorish, and humorously misogynistic, its like he's still in high school, which by the way is kinda like the intellectual level of modern American political discourse

Doggy Style Sex is compared to hell

The Successful female, a main issue of post-modern gender role,  is accused of insensitivity'-F@$#$n hilarious

"Shit .......I Love you there" pg 62- Ben: truly a modern romantic and a masculine stereotype- another moment of generic crap in an otherwise fine play.

Good, I'm glad that you have a bunch of things that you are ready and willing to talk about in class on Wednesday...it might be helpful (for you and the class) if you take one or two of these themes and allow yourself to develop your ideas more fully, instead of listing them so we can get an early start on your thought process....oh and you wrote "Shit ...I love you there" when it is actually, "Shit... I love you. There" (62). That's a big difference (and you might want to read Eats, Shoots & Leaves!).

Onward!
